Batch of 100 Basket Willow(Salix Viminalis) Plants – Certified Cuttings

The versatile willow par excellence: High-performance biomass or fine basketry.

This lot includes 100 ready-to-plant Salix Viminalis cuttings. This vigorous variety is the absolute reference for both wood-energy production (TCR/TTCR) and crafts (creation of baskets, furniture, plessis).

Why choose our Agribiomix prepared plants?

We don’t sell dormant stock, we sell fresh stock. Your plants are prepared with shears after validation of your order to guarantee a recovery rate close to 100%.

  • Innovation “Zéro Erreur”: Each cutting (20-22 cm) has a white-painted tip. This marker indicates the top of the stem to avoid planting upside down, while healing the cut against desiccation and disease.

  • Health guarantee: All our batches come with a European Phytosanitary Passport, certifying the absence of viruses and diseases specific to Willow.

  • Double Usage :

    • Wickerwork: A product of long, flexible and resistant strands, ideal for weaving and plant furniture.

    • Biomass: Ultra-fast growth for energy recovery.

Technical & Cultural Itinerary

  • Planting density (biomass): Around 45,000 plants/hectare for optimum yield in dense coppicing.

  • Planting period: Autumn to end of April (excluding frost periods).

  • Late tip: For any planting after April 1st, we recommend soaking the cuttings in water for 24 hours before planting to reactivate the sap flow.

Storage before planting: If you don’t plant immediately, keep your cuttings cool (max +5°C) and away from light. Avoid exposure to dew or warm humidity to prevent premature germination above ground.

Farmer Focus: TCR / TTCR Cultivation

Vanniers willow is a major species for short-rotation coppicing (TCR ) or very short-rotationcoppicing (TTCR). This agro-forestry method offers major economic and ecological advantages:

  1. Energy profitability: Mass production of biomass and wood energy. Harvesting cycles (from 2 to 20 years depending on the desired diameter) ensure recurring income.

  2. Ecosystem services: Salix’s dense root system effectively combats soil erosion and promotes water infiltration.

  3. Hardiness: An all-terrain species, capable of making the most of wet or difficult soils, while sequestering carbon over the long term.
